Energy and science

People often ask me what energy healing is? Everything is energy! That's not spirituality that is science and quantum physics. I am no scientist but here goes a brief history of science :

Back in the day, we used to think the earth was flat! (Sorry flat earthers still out there, it is not!)

In the late 17th and early 18th century, Isaac Newton and his buddies decided the world was about solid objects and gravity. Remember the apples?! Newtonian physics. This model led in the 19th century to scientists believing the whole Universe was mechanistic working on Newton's laws of motion. There were technological leaps made to mechanical machines and in our understanding of our planets. This thinking believed in linear and absolute space and time.

Around this time, we also discovered atoms which were also thought of as solid objects.

However, shortly thereafter some discoveries were made that meant not all of that quite 'worked'. We discovered electro magnetic effects (not solid objects. Hmmn. ) Scientists like Michael Faraday saw this as a 'field' and decided that the positive and negative charges of particles created disturbances in the field around something. I.e. the concept of a universe filled with fields that create forces was created in our minds. (Well, it had been present in many cultures and religions for many thousands of years but in Western minds).

We get electricity (yay).

In 1905, Albert Einsten published the Theory of Relativity which totally disagreed with the concept of having a separate thing called space and a separate thing called time. Both are connected (the space-time continuum). There is not one without the other. Time is relative depending on where you are and observers could even see events in different time.

In the 1920s, scientists got into the sub-atomic domain. This produced paradoxical effects. I.e. you did not always get consistent effects when you were expecting them. Light could be both a wave and a particle. Max Planck discovered heat radiation actually occurred in energy packets called 'quanta'. Eistein thought all energy could appear in packets. And our concept of these very solid building blocks of life (Newton stylee) started to evaporate. We realised particles can be transmuted into other particles. Matter does not exist with certainty but has tendencies.

In the 1940s and 1950s we started to play with sub atomic energy and we get nuclear power. As we know....

In the 1960s scientists start to look at the connection between sub-atomic particles and realise there is a connection in some way that transcends time and space (Bell's Theorem). This leads on to the development of quantum physics.

From the 1980s and 1990s, we expand our knowledge of sharing data in energy packets. We have the internet. We have Hotmail. Yay!

Since the 1990s, scientists discover more and more fascinating paradoxes from quantum physics and the connection of the Universe beyond traditional cause and effect understanding. Black holes. String theory (where the butterfly flaps its wings in the Amazon and the effect this has on unrelated things etc). Scientists like Rupert Sheldrake start to research and publish on the invisible organising fields that do not respect the traditional boundaries of time and space. Experiments in quantum physics show that a particle in one place will feel and show the effect of an event occurring to another fellow particle it originated from miles away (e.g. see the work of Dr David Bohm).

And we are a million miles away from the apple tree!

There is far too much to write on here. Lots of reading out there on quantum physics should it wet your appetite. If it doesn't, simply think of all the non visible vibrations we know about bouncing around us. I like the NASA website on this. The radio waves. The UV rays from the sun. The electro magnetic fields that make our mobiles work. The microwave. The gamma rays. The infra red. The measurable cosmic rays. Everything is vibrating when you look at it under a microscope. Life is a series of vibrations.

(Energy healing like Reiki harnesses divine Source energy for healing purposes. Most clients will feel the vibrations during a session - this can feel like tingling, heat, cold or waves of energy. Some will see their chakra colours move during a session too!)
