Chakras, auras and our energy bodies

You may be familiar with your chakras if you have ever done yoga. Or you are a Hindu. Or you might not have a clue what they are. You might have a vague notion of your aura being your 'vibe'.

So what are they?

Chakras

Put in extremely simple terms (with apologies to yogic gurus out there and Sanskrit experts), chakras are our energy centres that run throughout our bodies.

Reiki healers can feel them when they hover their hands over clients' bodies. (You feel the energy change when your hands cover the area and the sensation depends on whether they are blocked or flowing). Intuitives and people with pyschic ability can sometimes see them. They look a bit like open flower petals!

Energy is connected to the chakras via nadis (energy points in our bodies) and flows through meridians (energy channels).

There are at least 7 major chakras although some people believe we have more like 8 and there are more minor chakras throughout the body. They start at your tailbone and largely mirror the trajectory of your spine which in healing terms is known as a sacred channel. You have another in your pelvic region, another near your navel, another in your solar plexus, your heart, your throat and one in the middle of your eyebrows with the final one being above the crown of your head.

Each chakra has a corresponding colour.

It may surprise you but in spiritual terms, you don't have one body. You have several.

You have your physical dense body made of flesh and bone.

You have your etheric body which is very close to your physical body but is just outside of it and can be felt by energy healers (you feel as if you are pushing into something tangible). It is a bit like a mirror image of your body and is an energetic matrix which anchors your physical body. Clairvoyants see this as blueish white light. You can train yourself to see it with some practice. (I am just starting to see some energy trails occasionally).

The second bodily layer is the emotional body. It again follows roughly the shape of the physical body but is much less exact than the etheric body and is comprised of feelings. Different feelings have different colours. Energy work changes their colours. Some clients will experience seeing different colours that match the chakra colours during a Reiki session (it moves a bit like when you put ink in a glass of water). People will throw off colour blobs in an energetic session whether it is energy healing or more traditional healing like counselling. These are observable by clairvoyants.

The third bodily layer is the mental body. This contains substances associated with thoughts and your mental processes. This body appears as a bright yellow light around the head and shoulders and extending around your body and it grows as someone concentrates. Within this field, are coloured thought forms which represent the emotion associated with the thought body.

The fourth layer is the astral body. This has beautiful colours which are slightly rose tinted. When people form relationships with others, they grow chords that connect their chakras on many auric layers. The longer and deeper the relationship, the stronger the chords.

The fifth layer is the etheric template. This is like a photographic negative. It is the blueprint for the etheric layer. Healing sounds work on this layer.

The sixth layer is the celestial layer and when we have an open celestial chakra, we feel connected with the Universe and as One. It has a pastel shimmering light. When the celestial chakras are open, unconditional love from the Universe flows.

The ketheric template or casual body - when you are aware of this you are one with the Source. This is also shimmering but like tiny golden threads. It contains the main power current that runs up and down the spine and nourishes the body.

You can have your aura photographed by Kirlian photography although it isn't specific which layer it will pick up. I have had mine photographed at entirely different places and the picture was the same (and different to my friends).

If you want to try feeling energetic forces, try placing your hands in front of each other but apart (palms facing) and slowly pull them apart and together but not touching like playing the accordion. You will start to feel the energy in between. You can also if you look very carefully point your fingers towards each other and slowly pull them apart. If you really focus, you may be able to see something which looks a bit like v

ery fine sticky clear toffee as you pull them apart. Or you can see the energy haze around things a bit like the blurry haze around a radiator when it is on.
